Get Your Credit Score Before Applying for a New Loan

At MyMortgageBanker.com we pride ourselves in providing great service; we want to find the right loan that fits your needs and we want the process to go smoothly and quickly.

One of the easiest ways to speed up the process of applying for, and qualifying for, a home loan or refinance, is to check your credit report before applying. By doing this, you can immediately find out if there are any errors or omissions that could slow down the  loan application process.

Whether you are applying for a straight home mortgage or refinance or one of the many variations like a super jumbo loan or stated income loan, your credit score will help determine what kind of loan and rates we can give you. We use the middle score of those provided by the three nationwide consumer reporting companies, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires each of these companies to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. The three companies have set up one central website, toll-free telephone number, and mailing address through which you can order your free credit report.

Remember, there is only one authorized website: annualcreditreport.com.

Be careful about visiting other sites that offer free credit scores, reports or monitoring.
Some sites sign you up for a supposedly “free” service that converts to one you have to pay for after a trial period ends. If you don’t cancel during the trial period, you may be agreeing to let the company start charging fees to your credit card. These sites often look like the official site at annualcreditreport.com. Some use terms like “free report” in their names; others have website names that purposely misspell annualcreditreport.com in the hope that you will mistype the name of the official site. Some of these “imposter” sites direct you to other sites that try to sell you something or collect your personal information.
